3rd Grade-After learning about artist Henri Mattisse they are creating a Mattisse -inspired painting- a patterned portrait in a lively setting, using lots of bright colors and patterns in their work.
5th Grade-The upper level hallway has been enlivened with colorful counterchange designs they had fun creating and next their watercolor winter birch trees will line the halls.
6th Grade-They are working on a Vincent Van Gogh inspired self portrait. The Students learned about drawing the face, looking in a mirror and "seeing their features and placement of them. Then they are painting in Van Gogh's impasto style-thick expressive brush strokes with tempera paint.
7th Grade-They are working with clay and sculpting a character portrait of someone.
8th Grade- They are working on a charcoal self portrait. I took a black and white picture of each student and they drew a grid over the 4x6 photo and then enlarged their image to a 12x18 drawing. It's challenging to work with charcoal and they are working hard on these drawings!
