Update- May 7th, 2010

POSTED: May 07, 2010

We are winding down!  8th graders did an awesome job on their video projects (log into the parent side to see them) and are reading "Romeo and Juliet." We will end the year by watching "West Side Story" and comparing it to "Romeo and Juliet."

7th graders are hard at work learning all about 1960's music- keep your eyes out for an invitation to compete in our "Family Feud" coming soon! (It will be fun to see who knows more- the kids or the parents!)

6th graders have written personal stories and will be performing them as monologues for the class.  Ask them to do them for you at home!

Update- March 30

POSTED: March 30, 2010

Things are chugging along in Performing Arts class!  Sixth graders have just learned about the 1975 sinking of The Edmund Fitzgerald. We learned the Gordon Lightfoot song and watched a documentary about the shipwreck and the Great Lakes. When we get back from break we will begin our unit on public speaking. Should be fun!

Seventh graders have started a unit on "Music of the 60's".......when this unit is done they will be able to identify over 30 songs and artists from the 1960's. The unit will culminate with a challenge to parents and grandparents- we will have a "Family Feud" type game and see who knows more!  Stay tuned for that!

Eighth graders have been working on video projects which are due on April 14th. The students will produce a 30-40 second commercial which we will watch in class. Keep your eyes out for our young filmmakers over spring break!  We will end the year by reading "Romeo and Juliet" and "West Side Story."

Wax Museum

POSTED: February 24, 2010

We are one week away from the wax museum!  All friends and families are invited to visit us on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Our wax museum will be held in two sessions:  Mr. Backe's class will run from 9:45-10:10 and Mrs. Skold/ Mr. Michalik's class will run from 10:25-10:50.  As you enter the cafeteria you will see many famous people from history. Each person will have a name tag with a red dot. When you push this button, the character will come to life!

We can't wait to see you there!
