It's been a FANTASTIC beginning of the year in the upper grades. In these 1st weeks, we've been VERY busy starting to review what's been learned during prior years. This way students get accommodated back into our Spanish routine while they are given some time to 'find their hidden Spanish skills' (as I tell them). Each grade level though has already learned new pieces of grammar and vocabulary, while 'remembering the old stuff', through our Expectativas de la Clase, the calendar and news of the day time, weather, greetings, numbers, verbs ... We've already had some homework, projects and quizzes on some of these lessons.
I have to say that the students and I have especially enjoyed the presentations/performances on projects that we've had, or the sharing of homework. You should have seen them, as so many are very creative and funny! Buen trabajo, estudiantes :)
COMING UP -All students are about to receive a Spanish textbook, which is returned at the end of the school year. Students in 5th, 6th and 7th grades will receive their textbook in the next week or so. 8th grade will get it in mid-November, once we are done with a unit I teach aside from the textbook (uses of ser vs. estar) POR FAVOR, make sure that the textbook gets covered, since they are returned for the summer to be reused the following year. We want to get several years of good use.
MAKE SURE- you don't miss reading my prior posting ¡¡¡ EXTRA, EXTRA, ESPAñOL EXTRA!!!
You can see we've been very BUSY and having lots of FUN, already.
Gracias y hasta pronto (literally 'until soon')
