October Events

POSTED: October 22, 2010

MEA is October 21 and 22.  There will be no school that Thursday and Friday.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Fall Conferences are Thursday, October 28 in the evening and Friday, October 29th all day.  Please check your conference sheet to find your time slot for your child's conferences.  All core Middle School teachers will be available for conferences during your time slot, feel free to visit with who you like.  There will be no school on Friday, October 29th.

In the next week or so, we will be finishing our sale of Chinook Books.  Remember that students make $10 profit for each $20 book sold.  Be supportive.  The eighth graders can use the help in paying for the Camping Trip, coming up in May.

Our 8th grade Family Mass is on Wednesday, November 3rd at noon.  Please gather in the Lumen Christi chapel where we will celebrate Mass together with students, teachers, and parents.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year.  We are excited to have students back in the hallways.

This year's theme is "Peace Begins With..."  We look forward to finding all of the ways that we can finish this sentence together as the 8th grade students begin their final year at Highland Catholic School.

End of the Year Fun

POSTED: May 11, 2010

Mrs. Skold has returned from her maternity leave and will finish out the year with the 8th graders.  She is glad to be back in time for all fo the end-of-year fun.

The 8th Grade Camping Trip is Monday, May17 through Wednesday, May 19th.  Students are looking forward to their time at camp together.  Plans for zip-lining, canoeing, games, camfires, and Mass are in the works.  This experience is one that alumni continuously tell us is one of the most meaningful, important, and memorable of their lives. Keep your eyes out for permission forms, informational sheets, etc. to ensure your child can participate safely

The last day of school for the 8th grade is Friday, May 28th.

Students will return to school with their parents on Tuesday, June 2nd for their Graduation breakfast at 8am.  Students will then stay after breakfast to rehearse for the graduation ceremony.  At 6:30pm a photograph of the 8th grade will be taken at Lumen Christi Church.  The graduation ceremony and Mass will begin at 7pm. A reception will follow and many families will then head over to Flaherty's Bowling Alley for some late-night fun.

With all of the activities in May and June, parents should keep their eyes open for hand-outs coming home.  Also, feel free to contact Mr. Backe or Mrs. Skold with any questions that you might have.  We want all 8th grade students and parents to enjoy their final days with us!
