Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the parent meeting last week.  We have tried to email pdf versions of the handouts from that meeting to all sixth, seventh, and eighth grade parents, those who attended and those who were not able.  I f our email did not get through to you, then we may not have your correct email address.  Feel free to send that email address to Mr. Backe, so that we can correct our list.

Take a look at the uniform policy and the possible consequences.  We are reaching the end of the grace period, and we'll be strictly enforcing the policy soon.  Take this opportunity to attend to the repair of damaged uniforms, length of girls' uniform skirts, boys' hair length, etc.

Seventh grade math is in full swing.  We just finished the chapter on variable expressions, operations on integers, and graphing on the coordinate plane.  Next we will be solving equations.  What fun!

In Geography we have been studying how to read a map using latitude, longitude, scale, legend, compass rose, and what the title is for.  The next chapter studies the different types of information that can be found on maps, for example, topographic maps or political maps.

In English, the 7th graders are learning how to write paper introductions right now.  The topic is, "If you could have any pet, what would it be?"  They've been reading them out loud in class and so far their writing has been very well structured and also very funny!

In 7th Grade Life Science, we are continuing a unit on cells.  We have looked at various cells through microscopes to see the differences between plant and animal cells.  We are currently learning about cell processes including diffusion and osmosis.  The 7th graders' next test on cell processes will be next Wednesday, October 14th.

Our school marathon walk was cancelled due to the rain.  The 7th graders have enjoyed the Fishing Trivia questions Mrs. Schmidt posed during our marathon week.  Mrs. Paschal's class had the correct answer twice and received a treat.  Students are sporting this years' marathon t-shirts and we look forward to wearing them each Friday throughout the school year.

Fall is here and it is good to have cooler classrooms.  Enjoy all the fall colors!
