Important News

Reading:
We are reading ten different novels in small literature circles in 6th grade Reading.  Students hold regular meetings for discussions and to share the work that they have done on their novels.

Religion:  We are focusing on the concept of 'free will', and how much of a gift as well as a responsibility free will is.
"God's capacity to forgive is always greater than our capacity to do wrong."   Lent is also important in our studies.

Science:  We are starting Chapter 4 which is on simple machines.  There will be many fun experiments to teach about the different simple machines and how they make our lives easier.

In English, the sixth graders are in the midst of their unit on Nouns.  They have spent some time learning about Concrete and Abstract Nouns, have learned the rules for Possessives, and are currently working on capitalizing proper nouns (and not capitalizing common nouns).

In 6th Grade Math, the students are learning how to solve equations using inverse operations.  They started by solving one-step equations, and are now learning how to solve equations involving two steps.  Next they will learn how to use these same concepts when solving inequalities.  They will have a test on Chapter 7 next week.
