Important News
Thank you to the parents who came to the 6th,7th, and 8th grade parent night. We appreciate your coming. Hopefully you feel you received some helpful information about middle school policies. The parents not in attendance will receive the two handouts (grading policies and uniform guidelines). These will be sent home with your student.
The field trip yesterday to River Rendezvous Days was a success. Ask your child about some of the stations they went to and what was discussed. They should have learned that life was a lot different for kids and adults in the late 1700's to the middle 1800's. Makes me awfully glad I live now!!
The Marathon walk will be held next Friday, October 2. We will be walking the Highland track with several other neighborhood schools in the afternoon. We already have many students wearing their new t-shirts that can be their Friday uniform shirt for the rest of the year. Go Marathon!!!
A date to mark your calendar: 6th grade goes to LONG LAKE CONSERVATION CENTER April 28,29,30. Long Lake is by McGregor, MN. It is a three day,two night field trip. We leave Wednesday, April 28 as close to 8:15 as possible, and return Friday, April 30 as close to 2:50 as possible. One special request is that we need a nurse/doctor mom or dad to accompany us on the trip. If that is your speciality and you love 6th graders and the great outdoors, please check your schedules to see if you can join us for three great days up north. (for budgeting purposes, the trip costs ABOUT $130 per student. I won't know an exact cost until early April.) Lots of Long Lake information will be coming home late March and early April.
We are doing our best to get your students to use their assignment notebooks. Many parents have said they didn't even know they had them. PLEASE ask them to bring them home nightly and look at them. If it always says, "NONE" - there might be a problem that needs to be addressed.
