Important News
Don't miss the teacher blogs, too!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The spring-like weather has certainly been a blessing! Students are enjoying recess without all of those bulky winter clothes. We have the new challenge of muddy hallways, but that seems a small price for the lovely sunshine. You would not believe all of the green growing in our courtyard garden.
It is wonderful to celebrate the re-birth that is part of our Lenten journey. All religion classes have been focusing on the changing church season. Students have spent time praying the Stations of the Cross and visiting the Adoration Chapel. Quiet and reflection are two tools to help us grow. It is wonderful to make time for both in our busy lives. I would encourage all families to participate fully in services of the Tridium, Holy Week. Students are not too young to benefit from attending Holy Thursday and Good Friday services at Lumen Christi Catholic Community. You will be amazed at what they will gain from participating.

Hold in Your Prayers
I am sad to inform you that Mr. Bill Bauer, father of our former pastor, Fr. John Bauer died over the weekend. Mr. Bauer's visitation will be tonight, Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Washburn-McReavey Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church in Anoka. May he rest in peace.
Condolences
may be sent to Fr. John Bauer at St. Mary's Basilica, 88 17th Street North,
Minneapolis,
MN 55403-1295.
On the Road Again
Our HCS advanced band students will be taking a road trip on Friday, March 26th. They will combine with other band students from the Hill-Murray Parish Band Program for a performance at St. Jude of the Lake School in Mahtomedi. After their show, they will enjoy lunch and bowling at Flaherty's Arden Bowl. Another perk for being in band!
(Plus, higher math scores!) Just a reminder any student in Grades 4-8 may join band at any time during the school year
Need a Summer Nanny?
Katelyn Maley, a HCS alum and sophomore at UW Madison, is available beginning mid-May to serve as a nanny, tutor or any other form of summer employment you may have. She has nannied for several summers, has access to a car, is CPR certified, and as a biology/Spanish major will also help your kids keep up on their summer studies. References are available and she'd be happy to come home for an interview during a weekend this spring. Please call her at 651-271-8194 or email kmaley@wisc.edu if you are interested. Thank you. (I will continue to share nanny information as I receive it.)
A note from the Shepard Family-Avery is a student at St. Bernard's and a HCS alum.
Parents S.O.S. (Save Our School)
If you are thinking about sending your child to the only Catholic school with an International Baccalaureate program then please help save St. Bernard's High School. The closing of St. Bernard's is not a "done deal." We have raised close to $600,000 in two weeks, our goal is 1.5 million dollars. St. Bernard's has a website (www.savesaintbernards.com) is receiving 10,000 hits a day, but we still need help!
We are working on a four-year plan, as parents and students, we are asking for donations. It could be as little as $5.00 over the next four years, which you can pledge online. Your donation will not be collected unless the school is saved. April 1st is our deadline for raising money.
Thank
You

Great News from the Giuliani Family
(two weeks ago....but, definitely worth sharing!)
Thought I would share some good news with you. Drew is at St. Jude's right now, and we are happy to report the tumor is gone!!!!! There is nothing left but a flat scar. The issue looks healthy, and there are no signs yet of vision damage. The scar tissue will develop over time, so there could still be vision damage, but this is a good sign. Tell those famlies that have been including him in their prayers, God does listen:)
We have a winner for Box Tops, Milk Caps and Soup UPCs

Remember to keep saving Box Tops, Milk Caps and Soup UPCs because the Classroom Collection Contest is going on now. The winning room receives jeans passes and a pizza lunch. Contest ends April 22!
