Dear Parents and Guardians,
I just purchased my first Easter egg coloring kit. Yep, I have "old" children, but we still enjoy coloring those traditional eggs. I love this season of the church year.
Sixth graders spent time this past week reflecting on the Stations of the Cross. They worked with crayon and color pencils to illustrate the Passion of Christ. Student Katie Tennis composed a lovely poem for Lent.
Lenten Prayer
We wait in darkness,
In sorrow, in mourning,
For the day you will rise to
open the gates of Heaven.
Help us remember how you suffered and died for us.
You knew you were going to die,
Yet you accepted it with faith and courage.
We should be like you.
Why is it so hard for us to
give up little things when you gave up your life?
Help us, Jesus.
I wish you and your families the joy of the upcoming Easter season.
Sincerely,
Jane

Calling All Hands
We need many folks to help with spring clean-up around our campus. Sandy Gross and Sue Kaufenberg will lead the charge on April 17th, 9 a.m. - Noon. (Rain or snow date: April 18th, 2-5 p.m.) Volunteers need to bring gloves, a garbage bag and hand pruners, if they have them. No gardening experience is necessary. We will show you what needs to be done.
We are hoping for a good turn out and some beautiful weather! It is wonderful to have such fresh nice landscaping and gardens on our school grounds. Please come and help!
Also, thanks to our Garden Club for picking up two enormous bags of litter after the snow melt.
Tuition Notice:
At this time, all outstanding tuition for the 2009-10 school year is due. Please make every effort to get all monies turned in to the school office. The school contract requires payment in full for this year, before students can register for the upcoming school year. Your attention to this is appreciated.
Please return your Parishioner Status Form for the 2010-11 School year as soon as possible. We have begun working on our new budget and those forms are necessary for that process. We anticipate having our new tuition rate established shortly.
Need a New Monitor?
Mrs. Katie Atlas, our technology coordinator, has an abundance of computer monitors (36!) that are looking for new homes. If you would like one of these 15" screen monitors please stop into school to pick one up for home.
Congrats to our fourth grade basketball players on the local park and rec team: Gram O'Malley, Sam Johnson, Alec Tennis, Michael Montalbano, Ian Gallagher, Nate Mellum-Church, Jack Rowe, and Henry Bogie. These athletes coached by Mr. Gallagher and Mr. O'Malley brought home a third place state tournament trophy. Nice! Also, good luck to Gram O'Malley who is competing in the state freethrow competition this upcoming weekend in Stillwater. We will be anxious to hear your results on Monday!

Fr. Bill Kenney is officially retiring from weekend work at Lumen Christi Catholic Community following the 8:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday. There will be a reception honoring him on Sunday, April 18th following the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Please plan on attending.

The Highland Catholic School 5th and 6th Grade Choir, under the direction of Ms. Rosie Romportl, will be one of the featured musical groups at the upcoming National Catholic Education Association Convention. Our students will perform a 30-minute repertoire on Tuesday, April 6th, at Noon at the Minneapolis Convention Center. They are one of only 16 selected school groups. The over 8,000 convention attendees will enjoy their lovely sound and enthusiastic performance!
The 31-member choir will also produce their third CD during a recording session on April 23rd in Lumen Christi Catholic Community Church. We are so proud of their hard work and talent.

Our second grade Brownies delivered a vanload of people and pet food to St, Francis Basket. They want to thank everyone who donated and we want to thank them for lending a helping hand and making a difference!
