What grades are offered at Highland Catholic School?
We offer preschool through eighth grade.

What time does school start?
Students enter the building at 8:00 a.m. and classes begin at 8:10 a.m.  The day ends at 2:50 p.m.

How old does my child need to be to start kindergarten?
Your child must be five years old by September 1st.

Do you have all-day kindergarten?
Students have the option in kindergarten of attending a full-day kindergarten program or the Kindergarten Plus program.  In all-day kindergarten, the students are let out at 2:50, however in Kindergarten Plus, children attend from the beginning of the day until 1:00 p.m.

Do you have a child care program before and after school?
Yes, parents may sign their children up for before and/or after school care in the Extra Innings program. Extra Innings also is offered in the summer. Check out all the details in the Extra Innings section.

When do students see the specialist teachers?
Students in grades K-8 attend Physical Education, Art, and Spanish classes on a regular weekly schedule.
Students in grades K-5 have Music classes weekly.
Students in grades 6-8 have Performing Arts classes weekly.
Students in grades K-6 have Library and Technology classes weekly.
Literacy Lab and Resource Room services are scheduled with the classroom teachers.

How does religion fit into the school day?
Religion classes are taught daily and are considered part of our core curriculum. Students also participate in classroom prayer, monthly Masses, grade level Masses, prayer services and service projects and retreats. Simply put, "We live our faith" on a daily basis as is evident in our interactions with one another .

Do the teachers have teaching licenses?
Not only do the teachers meet all of the requirements of Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) but 11 of the teachers hold or are pursuing advanced degrees in teaching.
