Resource Room
First and foremost, this room exists to provide students with wide-reaching enrichment opportunities. Small groups of students visit the Resource Room throughout the day to work on curricular enrichment. These students are selected by their teacher based on classroom performance, test scores, and interest. While in the Resource Room, they work on projects and activities designed to extend what is happening in their classroom. Throughout the year, the students also have the opportunity to participate in projects which represent their interests. Many groups of students "revolve" in and out of the room on a project by project basis. This is designed so we can meet the unique needs of individual students' learning and development.
The Resource Room also is brimming with math materials. There are materials for all grades and for all five strands-numbers, algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics. These materials are available for teachers to use in their classrooms to enhance mathematical concepts.
The Resource Room is a clearinghouse for extracurricular academic activities. Each year we participate in activities such as Destination Imagination, Mathcounts, Creativity Festival, Young Inventor's Fair, and Young Authors Conference, Math Masters, Junior High Math League, Just the Arts, First Lego League, Mad Science, Young Rembrandts and Chess. Students have the opportunity to extend their learning according to their interests with these activities.
